AUTOBACS SEVEN CO., LTD, today’s worldwide store support center of AUTOBACS stores, was established in 1948 as a wholesaler and retailer of automotive parts.
We pioneered automotive aftermarket specialty retailing in Japan with the first AUTOBACS store in 1974 in Osaka, and our retail network has since grown to become Japan’s largest nationwide chain with over 530 stores (as of 31 March 2012). We are also expanding internationally, having already established 27 stores in Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, France, Malaysia, and China respectively.

Our History
1947
February
The late Toshio Sumino founded Suehiro Shokai as a privately owned wholesaler of automobile parts in Osaka.
August
Suehiro Shokai was reorganized into a joint-stock company named Fuji-Shokai Co.,Ltd. in Osaka. It began wholesale of automobile parts.
1948
1958
January:
Independent wholesale department, established Daiho Sangyo Co., Ltd.
Year 1960
Opened Fuji Drive Shop.

1969
Year 1969
Developed a contract with the “Carman Apache” racing car at the 1969 Japanese Grand Prix.
November:
Opened AUTOBACS Higashi Osaka Store as the Company’s first directly managed one-stop specialty store for automotive goods and services which is the first in Japan.
1974
1975
April:
Started the franchise business system and opened AUTOBACS Hakodate Nakamichi store as the first franchise store.
November:
Released tires, oil and batteries under our own private brand.
1977
1979
August:
Opened AUTOBACS 100th store (AUTOBACS Yagi store).
March:
Changed the company name to AUTOBACS SEVEN Co., Ltd.
1980
1983
July:
Opened AUTOBACS 200th store (AUTOBACS Tezukayama store).
November:
Opened AUTOBACS 300th store (AUTOBACS Atsubetsu East store).
1985
1986
January:
As a trading company, AUTOBACS International Hong Kong was established, becoming AUTOBACS first entry into the international market.
July:
Opened first AUTOBACS store in Okinawa prefecture. This indicated AUTOBACS stores now becoming open in all of Japan’s prefectures.
1987
1989
March:
Listed on the second section of the Osaka Securities Exchange.
Began providing statutory safety inspections for cars at all AUTOBACS Group stores.
May:
Opened first overseas store in Taiwan (AUTOBACS Shilin), beginning AUTOBACS store’s expansion to the overseas market.
1991
1992
March:
Opened AUTOBACS 400th store (AUTOBACS East Nasuno store).
August:
Listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
September:
Changed listings to the first sections of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Osaka Securities Exchange.
1993
1995
January:
Established AUTOBACS VENTURE SINGAPORE Pte Ltd. In May of the same year, the first store in Singapore opened (AUTOBACS PAYA LEBAR STORE).
march:
Listed on the London Stock Exchange.
March:
Opened AUTOBACS 500th store (AUTOBACS Hamada store).

1997
March:
Opened the first Super AUTOBACS store in Chiba prefecture as a new store format which covers larger marketing areas than an AUTOBACS store.
August:
AUTOBACS SEVEN Europe S.A.S.(Present: AUTOBACS FRANCE S.A.S.) established a partnership with France Renault.

June:
- Opened the first AUTOBACS Hashiriya Tengoku Secohan Ichiba for sales and purchases of used automotive goods.
- Opened first store in Thailand (Sathon store).

- Opened first store in France (AUTOBACS HERBLAY).
- Released an original sports car named GARAIYA of which AUTOBACS led the design and production.

Opened the first AUTOBACS Express store in Kanagawa prefecture which combined a gas station and a store for automotive goods.
June:
Introduced CARS system for used car sales.
September:
Opened first store in the United States (Super AUTOBACS BEACH & 22).

AUTOBACS Shen Zhuang, China.
AUTOBACS SEVEN Co., Ltd. in Toyosu, Tokyo.
2004
January:
Opened first store in China (AUTOBACS Shen Zhuang).

October:
Moved the headquarters of AUTOBACS SEVEN Co., Ltd. in Toyosu, Tokyo.
March:
Delisted from the London Stock Exchange.
2007
AUTOBACS Klang Sentral store, Malaysia.
2012
February:
Acquisition of ISO 14001 certification at the Toyosu main store (This was cancelled in 2017).
March:
Completed a total of 3 million statutory safety inspections throughout our AUTOBACS Group stores.
April:
Opened first store in Malaysia (AUTOBACS Klang Sentral STORE).
July:
Revamped the AUTOBACS Group Private Brand and launched AQ. Brand deployment.
November:
Completed a total of 5 million statutory safety inspections throughout our AUTOBACS Group stores.
2014
BMW / MINI dealer business in Toshima-ku, Tokyo.
AUTOBACS A.R. Hakim store, Indonesia.
2015
April:
Official BMW / MINI dealer business started operation in Toshima-ku, Tokyo.
July:
Opened first store in Indonesia (AUTOBACS A.R. Hakim store).
January:
Entered company into the Philippines through creating a capital and business alliance with a Philippine company.
March:
Opened first AUTOBACS Used Car Purchase Store that specializes in purchasing cars in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo.

February:
- Started running Chain Growth Co., Ltd. mainly for securing, supplying, and securing maintenance personnel.

Established ABT Marketing Co., Ltd., a joint venture with CCC Marketing Co., Ltd.
June:
- Began developing the JACK & MARIE brand that provides original lifestyle goods for AUTOBACS customers.
- Opened the first AUTOBACS GARAGE, a concept store that proposes a new form of car-life.
August:
Opened AUTOBACS Mini (Aeon Mall Tamadaira No Mori store) with a focus on statutory safety inspections.
March:
Opened first original lifestyle brand store named JACK & MARIE (Bay Quarter Yokohama store).
